고후쿠지의 문적 사원(황족이 주지를 맡은 사원) 다이조인의 정원 유적지. 2010년에 정비가 끝난 후 일반 공개됐다. 정원 남쪽에 지어진 다이조인 정원 문화관에서도 조망할 수 있다.

1621년, 기슈 번주 도쿠가와 요리노부(徳川頼宣) 공이 아버지 이에야스(家康) 공을 모시기 위하여 창건한 곤겐즈쿠리 양식의 신사. 닛코 도쇼구와 마찬가지로 현란하고 호화로운 건물 주변에는 히다리 진고로(左甚五郎)의 조각 작품과 가노 단유(狩野探幽)의 벽화가 자리하고 있다. 주홍색 누문을 비롯한 배전, 본전 등 7동이 국가 중요 문화재로 지정되어 있다. 와카마쓰리 행사 중 하나인 미코시토교(가마 행렬)에서는 가마를 짊어진 청년들이 108계단을 힘차게 발맞춰 내려가는데 1000명의 행렬이 그 뒤를 따른다.
