Enjoy Country Farm Tokyo German Village: Flower Fields, Food, and Family Fun in Chiba Prefecture
- Written by: LIVE JAPAN Editor
Just a short trip from Tokyo, Country Farm Tokyo German Village in Chiba Prefecture’s Sodegaura City is a delightful theme park that feels like a slice of rural Germany. With beautiful flower fields, tasty food, exciting events, and unique souvenirs, it’s a perfect day trip for visitors looking to escape the city and enjoy nature and culture all in one spot.
Seasonal Wonders! Flower Fields and Dazzling Illuminations

One of the biggest draws of Tokyo German Village is its sprawling flower fields. At Irodori no Oka (the Hill of Colors), you’ll be greeted by a rainbow of blooms that change with the seasons. In spring, picture soft pink creeping phlox and delicate blue nemophila. Come autumn, vibrant marigolds steal the show.

The fun doesn’t stop with flowers! Numerous events celebrate the changing seasons, particularly during summer and winter. In August, events that light up the night sky, such as fire shows and sky lantern shows, are organized to create unforgettable memories. In winter, the park transforms into a dazzling, colorful wonderland with illuminations. The Light and Sound Show, set to lively music, is a must-see event that crowds each year.
Food and Souvenirs You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
Foodies will love the park’s popular Wurst restaurant, where you can enjoy your very own barbecue. You don’t need to bring a thing—everything from utensils to hearty ingredients like sausages and German-style potatoes is provided. Best of all, there’s no cleanup! It’s a tasty, stress-free way to enjoy a bit of Germany in Japan.
You will also find a variety of souvenirs inspired by Germany. The most popular is Baumkuchen, a cake offered in six flavors: vanilla, black tea, chocolate, pumpkin, banana, and honey. If you enjoy a drink, pair a juicy sausage with authentic German beer for a classic combo that’s hard to beat.
Easy Access From Tokyo!

Getting to Tokyo German Village is a breeze from Tokyo. Take the JR Sobu Line from Tokyo Station to Chiba Station and then transfer to the Kapina-go Highway Bus, which will take you to the park in 40 minutes. If you’re renting a car, the park within an hour of Tokyo – and just five minutes south of the Anesaki-Sodegaura highway interchange.
