The Sogo Museum of Art is located inside a department store that is directly connected with Yokohama Station. You can enjoy both shopping and art at the same time.
A three-minute walk from Yokohama Station brings you to the Sogo Museum of Art, established as an institution to lead in the development of a new Yokohama. Located on the sixth floor of Yokohama Sogo, this is a genuine, art museum - the first to be registered under the Museum Law in Japan - aiming to contribute to the local community and broaden understanding of world cultures. Along with a collection including around 100 oil paintings by Shintarou Suzuki, it holds special exhibitions of a wide variety of notable Japanese and foreign artworks. Various special exhibitions are held in keeping with the times and the museum's cultural role in its community. The museum is inside a department store so you can enjoy it when shopping. Admission is different for each exhibition, so inquire in advance.
