A 1,650-year-old redwood, considered a natural monument, with a diameter of 3.2 meters, carved into a log to create an open-air bath.Bathing while gazing at the night sky, or amidst morning mist and winter snow landscapes, is an exceptional experience. Redwoods are the world's largest trees, exceeding 100 meters in height, and have long been cherished as 'trees of the gods' in the United States. As natural monuments, they cannot be cut down, and at the time, logging was prohibited except for fallen trees due to wind damage (currently, both logging and transportation are completely banned). In the 1980s, the future owner of the inn, Mr. Kamakura, gathered local woodsmen and hunters familiar with the forest to form a search party. They ventured into the dense forests of Sequoia National Park. After an arduous journey lasting about a month, they finally discovered a fallen redwood tree that was 1,650 years old and had a diameter of 5 meters.Overcoming numerous challenges, the tree was transported to Japan and became the foundation of the current REDWOOD INN.Features such as the 3.2-meter-diameter open-air bath crafted from 75-centimeter beams and thick trunks can be found throughout the inn.The building's design was modeled after the ranger stations at the Grand Canyon that protect the redwood forests. Relax and unwind within the 1,650-year-old growth rings of the tree.
