The Senzu Restaurant is an auberge offering health-conscious Chinese medicinal cuisine in Izu. Blessed with ingredients from the mountains and sea, we have been running this inn specializing in Chinese cuisine for nearly 30 years in this area. Using ingredients from Izu, we do not use chemical seasonings or additives that are said to be unhealthy. We use organic safflower oil, which is cold-pressed and free of cholesterol and genetic modification, as well as domestically produced sesame oil and peanut oil. The dishes at Senzu Restaurant are surprisingly light on oil and do not cause indigestion. From appetizers Using plenty of locally grown vegetables from Izu, dishes like radish cakes and Sichuan-style bang bang chicken with black sesame sauce, the most popular choice among repeat visitors, the Sichuan mapo tofu made with three-year-aged doubanjiang is not extremely spicy. The pension was renovated through DIY and opened as a painting gallery guesthouse in 2017. The first floor consists of guest rooms, designed with the concept of a Mediterranean-style cave, with the corridor serving as a gallery. The second floor features the innovative wooden framework and high ceilings originally designed by architect Mr. Nozaki, and is used as a gallery room and restaurant. While the original facilities are old, the guesthouse is operated with the intention of upcycling.
