Major convenience stores such as 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, or Lawson release more than 10 products every single week! Those that become a hot topic on social media and so on are often quickly sold out. We were curious what those “hot topic” goodies are and went to 7-Eleven to find the three top-sellers of this week! (8/9/2018 – 8/16/2018). Because the summer heat is still holding Japan in its grip, the top three is dominated by frozen goodies!
#1. Hōjicha Latte Shaved Ice 150ml (159 yen, tax included)
An item that’s limited in quantity boldly takes the first place! The Hōjicha Latte Ice Cream unites two kinds of roasted hōjicha tea powder to give the cold shaved ice a rich flavor and aroma. It’s topped with milk ice cream and a sauce of hōjicha and condensed milk to make for a well-rounded creamy delight. Right now, Japan is undergoing a massive hōjicha boom, to the point where it has become a staple at many stores right next to matcha.
This shaved ice dessert tickles your taste buds with three distinct flavors that make for an elegant mix and a refined roasted tea latte experience. Even though it’s shaved ice, you’ll be surprised by how creamy it is!
Sold from August 6, 2018.
#2. Tropical Mix 100g (200 yen, tax included) Tropical Mix
Second place goes to a bag of frozen fruits. You can simply enjoy the cool tropical delights as they are or use them as a topping for ice cream, yogurt, and so on. The hom thong banana is mellow and rich in flavor, while the Maha Chanok apple mango and the hom suwan pineapple have a wonderful balance of sweet and sour on top of a mouthwatering aroma. Use the bag to spice up a drink of carbonated water, make sangria with them, or a fruit cocktail – they go great with a variety of drinks!
Sold from August 7, 2018.
#3. Choco-Mint Shaved Ice Bar, Pack of One (138 yen, tax included)
This tasty bar of shaved ice is mixed with a flavorful combination of crunchy chocolate chips, slightly bitter chocolate sauce, and coated with a crispy shell of a cocoa-flavored mix. Mint extract is used to give the bar a wonderfully refreshing taste, sure to cool you down on a hot summer day.
Sold from August 6, 2018.
