Shibuya Halloween

渋谷ハロウィン

Description

Halloween has evolved into something uniquely Japanese, becoming a major event with large crowds of people dressed up not only as demons, witches and zombies, but also anime characters.

Shibuya Scramble Crossing, which by many is regarded as one of the symbols of Tokyo, attracts huge crowds of people on Halloween day. On that day admittance to Shibuya Station is restricted and there is a huge police presence around the station area to control traffic and perform other security tasks. The Halloween spirit is facilitated by areas set up in the station for people to change into costumes as well as the erection of portable toilets.

Participants are urged to be thoughtful and observe good manners when enjoying themselves.

In addition, according to the ”Ordinance on Ensuring a Safe and Secure Environment in the Area around Shibuya Station” enforced in 2019, drinking on the street and in public places around Shibuya Station is prohibited.
