Shibuya nightlife has some of the best scenes in Tokyo. In fact, there are so many great places it is difficult to say which are the best clubs in Shibuya.
To help us choose, we asked ex-pats living in Tokyo for their recommendations on the best nightspots in the area. What follows are three highly recommended Shibuya night clubs including the really famous and those newly opened, and all guaranteed to be highly entertaining!
WOMB: Synonymous with clubbing in Shibuya! Japan’s top DJs also play here
“What’s a good night club in Shibuya?” We asked several foreign ex-pats and each and everyone mentioned WOMB.
Since it opened in 2000 it has continued to present the latest trends in music in the world and on several occasions has been high up in the world club rankings of the English dance music magazine “Mixmag”. You might consider it one of the best spots for Shibuya nightlife.
Unique to this Shibuya night club is the many prominent Japanese DJs who spin records here, including Taku Takahashi of m-flo, Tomoyuki Tanaka of FPM, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and Yasutaka Nakata who is also known for producing Perfume. If you want to experience a Japanese club, then you should definitely visit this place first.

ATOM TOKYO: The place to go on weekdays for a lively time!
If you want to go to a place that is always lively for Shibuya nightlife, then go to ATOM TOKYO. This place has a lively crowd not only on weekends but on weekdays, too. Also, since its renovation in 2017 it can now hold up to 2,000 people! Several of the local foreigners with whom we spoke said that they like to stop by after work as it is a great way to relieve stress.
A major point is that the security here is really tight because there are always large crowds. Unlike other clubs, it has a strict dress code and when entering there are thorough body checks to see what you are carrying and you are required to show passport or other identification. There is also a special floor, stage, and seats for women, so they can enjoy themselves safely and until the morning if they like!

Things to keep in mind when going to a Shibuya night club
All clubs require a presentation of ID when entering. In the case of foreigners, that means either showing a passport or residence card.
Generally, the more popular the club, the stricter the dress code, so excessively casual clothing is not permitted. Some clubs prohibit entry of people with visible tattoos, but if these are covered and not visible then there should be no problem.
In all of the Shibuya clubs mentioned above, individuals are responsible for taking care of their own personal items and drinking behavior. So, if you follow the rules and have good manners you should be able to enjoy yourself all night long!
