d47 MUSEUM - Explore the Charms of all of Japan's 47 Prefectures

Located on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie is d47 MUSEUM. The d stands for ""design,"" while the number 47 represents the 47 prefectures that make up Japan. Their distinctive features can be discovered thoroughly in this admission-free museum, introducing a whole variety of designs and creations. From arts and crafts to food, fashion, and environment, experience the many local cultures of Japan without setting foot out of Tokyo.
If you feel a bit hungry after your tour through Japan's prefectures, why not head over to the d47 shokudo (canteen)? Every month, a new local dish is offered as a set menu, such as the fried horse mackerel set (1,550 yen) from Nagasaki. The spacious tables and the counter seats invite to stay for a relaxed, slow mean all by yourself. The d47 design travel store, on the other hand, sells all sorts of daily necessities from all over Japan, handpicked by the editorial staff of the d design travel guide. Take your time and discover Japan's many local charms, all in one building!

Shibuya Publishing & Booksellers - A Paradise for Book Lovers

To escape the hustle and bustle of Shibuya, head over to a much quieter, sophisticated area called Oku-Shibuya. There, you'll find a wonderful book store called Shibuya Publishing & Booksellers, a shop that isn't only built upon the concept ""life with books,"" but also offers a wide variety of genres, such as classic novels, essays, comic books, children's literature, and more. On top of choice publications, this bookshop also sells simple but intriguing accessories and statonery themed around our favorite hobby: reading.
The works found in the Original Selects section are all equally intriguing, promising little discoveries that wouldn't be made quite so easily in a chain bookstore. The cookbook corner doesn't only showcase classic recipe books but also works on the topic of cooking, food, and nutrition itself, with international works as well as independent ones.
This one is for all you bookworms out there - we're excited what new favorite you're going to discover!
