Description

Built along the Koai Reservoir to protect against the flooding of Tone River, the garden has canals from Koai that afford views characteristic of riverside areas. Alongside is an avenue of poplar trees about 1.2 kilometers in length, one of the major draws of the park. Viewing a wide variety of aquatic plants such as irises, water lilies, kohone (Nuphar japonica), is also a great reason to visit this garden. With its iris garden with 14,000 roots with about 100 cultivars of iris flowers and about 200,000 plants, it is the largest of its kind in Tokyo Metropolis. The park also has a bird sanctuary area with six bird watching areas, a water jet field where children can play in the water during summer, a barbeque grill area, an adventure area with children's playsets, and a dog run, all of which makes this park a family-friendly space. Take the Keisei Bus from Kanamachi Station either on the Joban Line or Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, get off at Mizumoto-Koen bus stop and walk about 7 minutes.
