Description
The Sekido Museum of Art exhibits artworks mainly collected over 60 years by an entrepreneur Senju Satoh who served as the president and later the chairman of Senju Metal Industry Co. Ltd. The museum is named after Satoh's pseudonym, Sekido. Its collection covers broad genres including 1,000 pieces of Chinese and other countries ceramics, Japanese tea ceremony utensils, Gandhara Buddhist sculptures, lacquerwares, bronze wares and jade artifacts. Special exhibitions are held about three times a year mainly to display these works. The impressive and unique hexagonal building has brick tile walls and copper plate roof. The exhibition rooms on the first and second floors are connected with a spiral slope and it makes visit of elderly people easy. It is located on the first and second floors of Senju Metal Industry headquarter building, a three-minute walk from Senju-Ohashi Station.
