Imari Okawachiyama, the village of secret kilns, has a history spanning 350 years. It was in this historic location that Hataman Touen was established in 1926. While preserving the distinguished tradition of Imari Nabeshima ware, Hataman Touen has created numerous masterpieces through innovative techniques of expressions. This exhibition will showcase an exquisite collection of porcelain tableware that reflects the craftsmanship passed down through generations. From the traditional “Iro-Nabeshima” collection to the “Sansui,” “Umezume,” and the latest “Texture” series, we invite you to experience the world of porcelain, woven with the skill and passion of artisans.
Date: 7th (Fri) – 22nd (Sat) February, 2025 *Closed on Sundays and public holidays
Venue: HULS GALLERY TOKYO (Akasaka/Roppongi)
Opening hours: 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Dialogue with Artist – Shuji Hataishi (5th generation of Hataman Touen): 7th (Fri), and 8th (Sat) until 2:00 p.m.

During the exhibition, there will also be a special table setting under the theme of “Teatime with Hataman,” arranged by the space coordinator Yumiko Sato.

HULS Gallery Tokyo is pleased to present an exhibition featuring new demitasse creations by ceramic artist Taki Nakazato, who works at the Ryutagama Kiln in Karatsu. A demitasse, with a capacity about half that of a standard coffee cup, is ideal for savoring rich, dark-roasted coffee. As a coffee enthusiast himself, Taki meticulously crafts these small yet functional and charming pieces. You may find the perfect companion for your next relaxing coffee break. We warmly invite you to visit and explore this special collection.
