Born and raised in a pottery kiln family in Bizen, Okayama Prefecture, Hitoshi Morimoto honed his skills as a ceramic artist in Mino, Gifu Prefecture. Rooted in these rich traditions, he creates a diverse range of works, including pieces based on Bizen ware, glazed vessels, and his signature “Shirahana” unglazed stoneware, crafted using a unique technique he developed. Morimoto’s works are distinguished by their refined and elegant forms, reflecting a deep reverence for the materials he uses. Through his creations, he captures the serene beauty of nature and landscapes shaped by the rhythms of everyday life, offering a glimpse into the joy of living with ceramics. This exhibition marks Morimoto’s first showcase at HULS Gallery Tokyo, and we warmly invite you to discover the timeless artistry of his creations.
