Description
The Tamura Sake Brewery still remains along the Tamagawa Aqueduct amidst nature where they continue to brew sake today. It is a long established sake brewery established in 1822 and has been producing and selling sake for generations. Their representative brand is called ”Kasen” which expresses the joy of the brewers when they first drew up underground water from the well on the premises called Chichibu-Okutama water - which is suitable for making sake. The brewery houses five Registered Tangible Cultural Properties such as the sake brewery which was renovated in 1918 , the water mill and the stone wall. ”Maekura” (litt: former storehouse), one of the Registered Tangible Cultural Properties is now used as a gallery were the sake is displayed and sold. It is a ten-minute walk from ”Fussa” station of the JR Ome Line.
