At FUJI JAPAN Nishi-Asakusa, we offer a knife sharpening experience.

In a quiet traditional Japanese house located near the historic Higashi Hongan-ji Temple - slightly removed from the bustle of Asakusa - you’ll have the chance to deeply connect with the spirit and traditions of Japan.

The experience begins with changing into ”samue”, traditional Japanese workwear. You’ll then learn about the history and culture of Japanese kitchen knives.
Under the careful guidance of an instructor who is familiar with Japanese knives, you’ll be taught how to authentically sharpen your kitchen knife using a whetstone.
After sharpening your knife, you’ll use it to practice jabara kyuri, a decorative cucumber cutting technique that is unique to Japanese cuisine.
At the end of the session, you can take home the very knife you used during the experience—an unforgettable memento of your time in Japan.

You will have a memorable time that cannot be obtained in the ordinary sightseeing.
