From the mid-Meiji to early Showa periods, Some summer houses for foreigners were built by the shore of Lake Chuzenji, turning it into an international holiday village.
The Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park is a garden where you can enjoy the abundant nature of the Lake Chuzenji shore and experience its history as an international summer resort.

The first floor of the main residence, which was mainly used by ambassadors and their families, is a single room incorporating a dining space and a study, each furnished with stove, and a living area in the middle, with a broad veranda creating an open, spacious atmosphere.
The second floor has bedrooms that face the lake in a design that maximizes the view.
The building also has a unique exterior finished with cedar bark in changing patterns.
The park is a symbol of spending quiet summers in harmony with grand natural surroundings and a vivid reminder of the area’s international history.
