There are many famous sake regions in Japan, and Chichibu, which has a long history of sake brewing, is one of them. There are breweries there that produce tasty sake. Yanagida Sohonten, which brews Bukou Masamune, a local specialty sake, was established in 1753. Bukou Masamune is a high quality sake that has been awarded numerous prizes at various competitive shows and fairs. Quality water is essential for sake brewing and the Bukousan underground water which is used by Bukou Shuzo for sake brewing is one of the 100 Exquisite and Well-Conserved Waters of the Heisei Period. The brewery has a well in the courtyard where you can fill your own bottle with this water. Tours are available by reservation. The brewery has been visited by many celebrities and the media, including news reporters. The brewery tour includes a tasting so that you can taste the sake on site. In addition, there are many historical objects such as an old wooden sign and iron pot in front of the store, and Bukou stone and old wooden pillars in the store. The brewery is a 15-minute walk from Seibu Chichibu Station on the Seibu Chichibu Line.
