A citizen's forest refers to a place created to preserve and grow the precious greenery resource remaining in Tokorozawa and to use it for the recreation and relaxation of the citizens. The forest is spacious with the total area of 46,630 square meters surrounded by rich nature. Inside the premises is an artificial mountain called Atahata Fuji, which was made by the local people in 1899. On a fine day from its summit, you can have a view of the Tokorozawa city and the magnificent mountains in all four directions. There is also the Sayama Hill Flora & Fauna Interaction Center, which offers information on the forest and five nature observation spots on the Sayama hills for the visitors. One of the citizens' forest's characteristics is the development of the forest is kept to a minimum to preserve the natural landscape. It is a 15-minute walk from the Shimo-Yamaguchi Station on the Seibu Sayama Line.
