Following this divine revelation, the monk traveled to Awazu, unearthed the sacred spring, and instructed his close disciple Gyōryō Houshi to build an inn there and entrusted him with its care. This marked the beginning of 'Houshi.' After Gyōryō Houshi's passing, his adopted son Zengorō succeeded as the second generation, and since then, the inn has been operated exclusively by the family for 46 generations, making it a rare establishment in the world that continues to protect its sacred waters to this day.
