Description
JR Yamaguchi Station is located in the center of Yamaguchi City on the JR Yamaguchi Line. The city is known as the Kyoto of the West and was selected by The New York Times as one of its ”52 Places to Go” in 2024.
The tourist information center on the first floor of the station provides sightseeing support focused on the city center. Additional information desks are available at Yuda Onsen and in front of Kozan Park.
Major attractions include the Rurikoji Temple Five-storied Pagoda (about 15 minutes away by community bus) and Yuda Onsen (about 10 minutes away by local bus), known for its skin-friendly waters.
A sightseeing taxi service also operates a loop that connects key historical and cultural sites. Free from the crowds of overtourism, Yamaguchi is currently attracting significant attention, with the media spotlighting its skin-beautifying hot springs and hidden backstreet cafes.
