Description
Wakasa Obama, the closest port town on the Sea of Japan to Kyoto, was once a "Miketsukuni" (food province) that presented seafood to the Imperial Court, and has supported Kyoto's food culture through the "Mackerel Highway."
A fishing village surrounded by a calm inland sea and mountains, Ana, Obama City, is a place rich in nature. A former symbol of the region, this inn has been fully renovated and opened as "Wakasa Kabi" in the summer of 2023.
The scenery of the sea and mountains of Wakasa Bay blending together, fishermen landing their catch in floating fish tanks, and tiled-roofed houses and alleys lined up shoulder to shoulder. Here you will find a rich lifestyle that is somehow nostalgic, yet unlike anything you have ever encountered before.
There are 13 rooms in three buildings with different styles, each with its own unique character. In this renovated building, which makes use of the former inn building, you can enjoy the accumulation of eras that cannot be achieved in a new building, and the mysterious incongruity of the old and the new mixed together.
Enjoy the carefully prepared dishes of freshly selected ingredients from Obama, including Wakasa Guji and Wakasa Fugu.
Enjoy a tranquil, extraordinary experience and blissful flavors in Wakasa Obama, where nature and culture blend together.
