Description
A 1,650-year-old redwood tree with a diameter of 3.2m, which is now considered a natural monument. Taking a bath while looking up at the night sky, in the morning mist, or in the snowy landscape in winter is exceptional.
Redwood is the world's largest tree with a height of more than 100m, and has long been known to many people in the United States as the "tree of the gods." It was treated as a natural monument and was not allowed to be felled. In the 1980s, Mr. Kamakura, who later became the owner of the mansion, organized a search party with people familiar with the forest, such as local woodcutters and hunters. We ventured into the dense forests of Sequoia National Park. After a daunting journey of about a month, we finally found a 1,650-year-old redwood tree with a diameter of 5m. The current REDWOOD INN was built in Japan after overcoming many difficulties. The 75cm beams and the 3.2m diameter open-air bath made from thick trunks are used throughout the hotel. The building is modeled after the Grand Canyon Forest Ranger Station, which protects the redwood forests.
Sit back and relax in the 1650 tree rings.
