Description
Founded during the Kamakura Period, this temple belongs to the Soto sect of Buddhism. The temple grounds feature a garden that blooms with seasonal flowers, such as cherry blossoms in spring, azaleas and Japanese irises in early summer, and Japanese clovers in autumn, leading the locals to call it “Hana no Tera (the Temple of Flowers).” The garden is designated as national cultural asset.
