Description
Built in 1984, this temple houses the Showa Daibutsu (an enormous bronze seated statue of Buddha, larger than the one in Nara), a main hall built with natural Aomori Hiba, and temples that include one of eastern Japan's largest five-story pagodas. The outside corridor of the main hall overlooks ”Bokitei,” a large rock garden. Inside the main hall is the temple's foremost treasure, a painting of Amida Shoju Raigo Zu (Descent of Amida and the Heavenly Multitude).
