Description
This region is home to 33 large and small lakes and ponds scattered throughout the beech forest that stretches across the land at the western foot of the Shirakami Mountains. The name Juniko (Twelve Lakes) derives from the view when seen from the summit of Mt. Okuzure, from which only twelve lakes could be seen. A hike around the area takes around from 1.5 hours to 3 hours and 20 minutes.
