Sapporo Station

札幌駅

Description

Sapporo Station is Hokkaido’s largest transport hub, connecting JR lines, subways, buses, and taxis. With direct access to major shopping facilities like Sapporo Stellar Place and Daimaru Sapporo, it’s a convenient spot to enjoy Hokkaido food and pick up souvenirs.
The tourist information center is located in the Hokkaido-Sapporo Food & Tourism Information Center in JR Sapporo Station’s west concourse, offering support in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean.
From Sapporo Station, JR Rapid Airport trains reach New Chitose Airport in about 37 minutes, Otaru in about 32–40 minutes, and Asahikawa in about 1.5 hours by limited express. Buses to Asahikawa are cheaper but delays are possible during winter.
The peak season is early February during the Sapporo Snow Festival, which often overlaps with Lunar New Year. The Odori and Susukino venues, as well as Sapporo Station-area underground malls become quite crowded during this time, so early reservations are recommended.
