Enjoy a Relaxing and Snowy Getaway at Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido
- Written by: Nina Cataldo
Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido is a newly opened resort in the mountains of Hokkaido, Japan.
Welcome to Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido
Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido, on the grounds of Hoshino Resort in Shimukappu, Hokkaido, opened its doors in December 2017.
In recent years, the internationally renowned Club Med has seen a revival as a collection of all-inclusive resorts for families. Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido is the epitome of such resort, from extensive facilities and activities for children to amenities curated for adults.
Petit Club Med: Family-friendly fun!
The Petit Club Med onsite is a child daycare center where children from 2-3 years old can enjoy ski and snow lessons, crafts, magic shows, and anything to keep them entertained. The global staff is equipped to communicate with families and children from all around the world, making the experience both comforting and exciting for all. For kids from 4-10 years old, there is Mini Club Med, and for 11-17 years old, Club Med Password offers a variety of activities suited for their age.
Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido Resort: Snow Paradise
This resort has nearly 145 hectares (360 acres) of powder to play in - from skiing and snowboarding to snowshoe trekking and snowmobiling. Ski and snowboard lessons are available for all levels - from beginners to veterans wanting to hone their skills, and even to skiers and snowboarders who want to take things to the extreme. Although it’s a family-friendly resort, the slopes range in all levels and are not just limited to bunnyhills. The view from up top of the mountain is spectacular, stretching over to the other resorts. Guests also get private lockers to keep their snow gear in for the duration of their stay.
For those looking for a more relaxed vacation, fitness classes such as pilates and yoga are available, as well as a wave pool for the entire family to enjoy. There are also guided snowshoeing experiences throughout the day.

Pictured is the Club Quad Room with a Mountain View. This view included a glimpse at The Next Bar whiskey lounge and the woods we had just trekked out of earlier in the day. The large-screen TV on the wall, also, features dozens of international channels including kid-friendly ones and global news in English.
Fresh Buffet-Style Dining
Its buffet-style dining hall serves over 90 different dishes at every meal. Meals are served here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with different selections each time. From fresh baked breads to cheeses, delicately cut meats to personally prepared dishes from around the globe at every request. And of course, an abundance of dessert and drink choices, too.
Being in Hokkaido, we also indulged in delicious Japanese cuisine and substantially sized crab legs brought right to our table.
Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido is very internationally staffed with many joining guests for lunch or drinks in the evening. Every night at the resort is a different experience and we happened to be there when there was karaoke and a dance party (latter of which was catered to children).
The social atmosphere of the lounge where the bar and theater are, is a place for guests to hang out, meet others, grab drinks from the all-inclusive bar, and enjoy nightly entertainment. Unfortunately, The Next Bar whiskey lounge was closed for the one evening I stayed, but this cabin in the woods is where guests can do whiskey and sake tastings in a more quiet, child-free atmosphere.
Even with everything at my fingertips, I rarely felt the need to lift a finger at this resort. Everything is taken care of for maximum comfort and joy of being at a resort, with a dash of outdoor adventure thrown in.
