Soon it will the cherry blossom season in Japan! Many people are looking forward to seeing the cherry blossoms. This year, we introduce the featured cherry sweets and breads offered at hotels in Tokyo from March. How about a beautiful treat with a cherry blossom motif to accompany a cherry blossom viewing?
Hotel New Otani: Sakura sweets you will want to share at cherry blossom viewing and parties
At Hotel New Otani's three directly managed hotels (in Tokyo, Makuhari, and Osaka), three new sweets with cherry motifs will be sold at the pastry shop Patisserie SATSUKI from Sunday, March 1 to mid-April.
One of the new sweets is the Sakura Roll (800 yen each, tax not included), which has a cherry blossom fragrance. Next, the Sakura Franc (1,200 yen each, tax not included), is topped with six Amaou strawberries and colorful pastel colors. Last is the cute Shinsakura Macaron (2,000 yen per box, tax not included).
The Sakura Roll is a cake roll made using carefully selected ingredients that enhance the gorgeous flavor of cherry blossoms. It is made with Sakura-kuzu using Kazuki-mochi lactic acid bacterium from Funabashiya, agar flavored with cherry blossoms, black honey bean paste with Aingashima Hingy's salt, and mellow lychee flesh from Kyushu Omuta. The roll is wrapped in cream that looks like white fabric. It shines with a cherry blossom color.
The Sakura Franc uses a special white cereal blended with a unique blend of bubbles, caviar, and amaranth combined with a light cherry flavor flan using brown rice egg with a refreshing umami taste. It is a sweet with luxurious toppings of Sakura Macaroon and Hakata Amaou.
The Shin-Sakura Macaron is a macaron that adds pistachio and ruby chocolate that captures the scent of cherry blossoms. The Sake Cake Macaron uses the Aoki Sake Brewery Tsurusei from Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture. They come in seven pastel colors that are perfect for spring.
Sakura Rolls will be sold in Tokyo and Makuhari. Sakura Francs will be sold in Tokyo and Osaka. Depending on the availability of ingredients, sales may change without notice.
