From Loafing Around Under the Sea to Loafing Around on Your Sofa!
Why a fried shrimp, you might ask? Well, why not? Some people might find it strange but let’s be honest, we all know these kind of lazy days when we really don’t want to do anything but lay on the couch and not move… just like a fried shrimp on a bed of rice!
Don’t be misled, though, the shrimp sleeping bag isn’t just a gag. It’s genuinely fluffy and comfortable roomwear – just be careful that you’re not mistaken for the real deal and hungry housemates try to take a crispy bite off of you.
One of the most distinguished features of the fried shrimp is its crispy coat – here authentically reproduced with high-quality material that is incredibly fluffy to the touch! The inside is layered with soft, brushed fabric that doesn’t only keep you warm but also very cozy.
To make the crispy illusion perfect, the bottom half must not be amiss! Red fleece socks will make your feet look like a red shrimp tail. While the socks resemble a pointy tail, they do have foot-shaped cutouts for the perfect fit.
A zipper is attached to the side of the fried shrimp sleeping bag for taking it on and off comfortably, and also adjusting how tightly it fits around your hip and legs. Not just for at home, this roomwear is a perfect choice for any costume party, keeping you warm and comfortable all around!
Not a huge fried shrimp fan yet? Let’s hear some facts about it: it is a dish that is said to originate from Japan, simple yet extremely delicious. It is made by coating the shrimp in flour, bread crumbs, or something similar, then frying it in hot oil.
It was first made in 1900, by the Western-style Restaurant in Ginza called Rengatei, and was inspired by the breaded pork cutlets that were introduced by Western visitors and expats to Japan. Following this breaded dish, the so-called “fry cuisine” was devised, of which the fried shrimp is, of course, a part of.
Another theory about the dish’s origin states that it has its roots in the cutlets and tempura dishes of the Meiji Era, fusing the fried fish dishes of the West with Japan’s own tempura cuisine which was popularized in the Edo period.
No matter which of the many theories is ultimately true, fried shrimp is, without a doubt, an extremely popular dish since over a hundred years. Will the wearable dish be able to live up to its parent, the actually edible fried shrimp?! We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on it – and shrimp around in our own crispy-fluffy sleeping bag on the weekends.
