What is Tosei Hotel Cocone Asakusa?

What is Tosei Hotel Cocone Asakusa?

Oku-Asakusa is a charming neighborhood located just north of Sensō-ji Temple. Unlike the bustling temple area, this district offers a quieter, more local atmosphere, rich with traditional downtown charm. In recent years, it has become a trendy hotspot, with many stylish cafés and restaurants popping up. Nestled in this peaceful corner of Asakusa is Tosei Hotel Cocone Asakusa.

The Tosei Hotel Cocone group operates business hotels primarily in the Tokyo metropolitan area. In Japan, 'business hotels' are designed with business travelers in mind, offering simple, no-frills accommodations at affordable prices. By keeping services and amenities to a minimum, they provide a budget-friendly yet comfortable stay.

Tosei Hotel Cocone, however, goes beyond the typical business hotel experience by blending simplicity with quality. With a Japanese-inspired design that creates a serene atmosphere and heartfelt 'omotenashi' hospitality, the hotel offers a comfortable, relaxing stay that embodies the essence of Japan.

The hotel is just a 3-minute walk to Sensō-ji Temple and 10 minutes to the famous Kaminarimon Gate, making it an ideal location for exploring Asakusa!

Additionally, from the hotel, you can easily access all the top Asakusa attractions: the Nakamise Shopping Street, the historic Asakusa Hanayashiki Amusement Park, the lively Izakaya Street in the western area, the scenic Sumida River with views of the Tokyo Skytree in the east, and the charming Oku-Asakusa neighborhood, where traditional Edo culture is still alive. It's the perfect spot to fully enjoy everything Asakusa has to offer!

Comfort with a Modern Japanese Touch

The name 'Cocone' comes from the Japanese word 'Kokoro no Ne' (the sound of the heart), symbolizing the hotel's desire to create a space where the best possible comfort, where the 'sound of the heart', is felt by everyone, including guests and staff alike.

With this in mind, the hotel focuses on a modern design inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics. The entrance features stone paving, greenery, and 'Komayose' (a traditional Japanese fence made from bamboo and wooden posts). The eaves are covered with traditional tiles, and both the front desk and lobby further incorporate elements of Japanese design, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.

The hotel's dedication to modern Japanese aesthetics is also reflected in the unique wallpaper and decor on each floor. You can feel the desire to convey the changing seasons through traditional Japanese patterns and colors, allowing guests to experience the beauty of Japan's four seasons.

Located on the first floor of Cocone Asakusa, Petika Sukemasa Coffee offers a stylish modern setting where you can enjoy coffee made by skilled baristas, along with homemade sweets featuring fresh, seasonal fruits.

An Exciting Hideaway Experience in the Family Room

An Exciting Hideaway Experience in the Family Room

At Cocone Asakusa, the family rooms with bunk beds are incredibly popular with kids, offering an exciting, secret hideaway-like experience that feels like an adventure.

Unlimited Access to Japanese Manga!

Unlimited Access to Japanese Manga!

The 1st-floor lobby offers a collection of 500 manga books available at all times. With internationally popular titles, many guests enjoy reading them in the comfort of their rooms.

A Hit with Kids! The 'Family Room' That Feels Like a Secret Hideaway

Let's take a closer look at the Family Room, which features bunk beds and is especially popular with families and small groups.

The Bunk Fourth Family Room features two sets of bunk beds, making it great for families or groups. The room is compact, measuring around 20 square meters, but can accommodate up to 4 guests, making it a popular choice.
While it might feel a bit cozy for adults, kids absolutely love it for its exciting 'secret hideaway' feel.

The mattresses are by Simmons, a brand known for focusing on sleep quality, ensuring a comfortable, restful night.

As a business hotel, the rooms are equipped with simple yet sufficient amenities. One standout feature is the humidifier available in every room, which is especially handy during dry seasons. The complimentary odor-neutralizing spray is another thoughtful, typically Japanese touch that adds to the hotel's attention to guest comfort.

The room wear consists of comfortably soft, one-piece pajamas (one-size-fits-all). Additionally, a full set of towels is provided for your convenience.

With eco-consciousness in mind, amenities such as toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and razors are not provided in each room. Instead, you can pick up the items you need from the amenity bar located next to the front desk on the 1st floor.

For younger children, the hotel offers a complimentary set including slippers, a towel, and a toothbrush. Just ask at the front desk during check-in!

Popular Japanese-Style Interior: The 'Japanese Modern Room'

Popular Japanese-Style Interior: The 'Japanese Modern Room'

The Japanese Modern Room features a traditional Japanese-style room with shoji windows, a tatami raised platform (a space elevated by one step), a low table, and zaisu (Japanese floor chairs), allowing guests to experience the essence of Japanese home culture. This room type can accommodate up to 3 guests.

For 3 guests, two will sleep on Simmons mattresses, while the third guest will sleep on a futon laid out on the tatami floor, offering a truly authentic Japanese-style stay.

In Japan, it's common to remove your shoes and stretch out on the tatami floor or relax by sitting on a zaisu (floor chair). As a unique part of Japanese home life, be sure to take the opportunity to experience this aspect of Japanese culture during your stay!

Enjoy Beauty Gadgets in the ‘Ladies Room’

At Cocone Asakusa, the Ladies Room is designed with women's needs in mind, offering a variety of beauty gadgets for those who don't want to neglect their skin care or hair styling while traveling (maximum capacity: 3 guests).

While the Ladies Room is prioritized for female groups, it is also available for couples or married couples.

(Note: This room type is not available for groups of men.)

The Ladies Room has four standard grooming devices: a hair straightener, a NanoCare hair dryer, a face steamer, and a handheld garment steamer.

The face steamer is especially popular, as it helps open pores, making it easier to remove dirt and makeup while refining the skin texture and providing moisture. The 2-way hair iron (which can be used for curling and straightening) is another favorite, allowing guests to style their hair easily.

For those staying in other rooms, these items are available for limited loan at the front desk. If you're interested, feel free to ask the front staff for more information.

(Note: If you're unsure how to use the devices, don't hesitate to ask the front desk for assistance.)

Enjoy a Coffee Break with Seasonal Sweets

Enjoy a Coffee Break with Seasonal Sweets

In September 2022, Petika Sukemasa Coffee opened on the 1st floor of Cocone Asakusa as the second location of the popular Asakusa café, Sukemasa Coffee.

This cozy café is known for its carefully brewed coffee, made by baristas wearing their signature denim overalls, and its homemade sweets made with seasonal fruits. Guests especially love that they can take their coffee and sweets to-go and enjoy them in the comfort of their rooms.

We enjoyed the popular Amao Strawberry Shortcake (770 yen), Petika Pudding (640 yen), and a Flat White (600 yen) with cute latte art.

The Amao strawberry shortcake features juicy strawberries paired with lightly sweetened cream and a fluffy sponge cake, creating a perfect balance of flavors. The Petika Pudding is a classic, slightly bitter, pudding that complements the cake beautifully, making for a blissful snack.

(Please note: The fruit used in the desserts may change seasonally.)

It's recommended to visit in the morning or make a reservation online the day before, as offerings may be limited in the afternoon.

Giftable baked goods are also a hit at Petika Sukemasa Coffee. The bestsellers include the 'Thank you BOX A' (2,850 yen), which contains a selection of 6 different baked treats, the 'Thank you Gift E' (590 yen) with 4 types of cookies, and the 'Thank you Gift' (900 yen) with 10 cookies.

Many guests choose to take them to-go as a treat for themselves or as a souvenir to bring home.
