On August 2 (Sat), we will hold a stencil workshop using stencils at Shinjuku Gyoen store for the first time in about a year! This time, you can choose a new tote bag or an item of your choice.
At the Enithing Toyohashi Factory, a 100-year-old loom is still in operation. Fabrics woven on old-fashioned “shuttle looms” are characterized by their texture, thickness, and softness.
Visitors will be able to experience “stenciling” on items such as a sakosh made from such “Maekake” fabric.
The stencils used for this experience were created by “Kanwa Mansen,” a dyeing shop established in 1902 with a history of more than 100 years. Stencils using authentic stencils are available.
Please enjoy making your own Maekake item by touching the fabric woven on an old shuttle loom and stenciling.
