Japanese festival "Matsuri" held in July
In July, the Tanabata Star Festival is joined by fireworks festivals that light the sky.

Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, honors the single day of the year when the deities Hikoboshi and Orihime are able to meet. Write your wishes on a small piece of paper called tanzaku and the shrine will pray for them to be granted. On the day of the festival , paper wishes gathered from worshippers will be tied to bamboo trees in front of the Shrine’s main building. At sunset on July 7, the Temple will hold a service to pray for fulfillment of paper wishes (tanzaku) gathered during Tanabata Festival. This is one of the largest fireworks festival in the Tokyo Metropolitan area, attended yearly by as many as 950,000 visitors. In all, 22,000 rounds are fired from two launch points on the Sumida River. Taking advantage of its massive launch site, this Festival sends off fireworks as large as 45cm in diameter, a scale that is quite rare for the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. The rounds burst into rings of 400 meters in height and width.
