- What to expect
-
You will visit the streets of Ogimachi village in Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many Gassho-zukuri houses lined along the streets. Upon request, we will also take you to local private houses that are open to the public. There you can observe the history of the village, lifestyle of the locals, etc. The architecture that does not use nails is also very interesting. During the visit, you can enter the local houses, museums, etc. if you like. Entrance fees are payable on site. Lunch is available in the village. However, it takes time when it is crowded. Your will stay in the Shirakawago area for 2 hours, or 3 hours if you take lunch in the village. Please note that one way from Gifu-Hashima station to Shirakawago takes about 2.5 hours by car. In case of snow, the maximum speed on the highway is reduced. In such cases, the time spent in Shirakawago may be shortened.
