Chikae Hakata Ryotei was established in 1961, originally converting the property of Fukuoka’s coal king Tokumatsu Nakajima into a chicken cuisine restaurant in Daimyo, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. This is now the Fukuoka branch. Reopened with a focus on fresh fish and kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner), the Fukuoka branch features an impressive fish tank measuring 12 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 1.2 meters deep. It houses over 30 types of live fish from various parts of Kyushu, providing a feast for the senses. In addition, Chikae attaches great importance to hospitality, not only in terms of dress, conversation, and behavior. Customers can feel the style of Hakata and Chikae and keep track of their meals' progress so that the dishes can be tasted in their best condition.
