• During the Edo period, the Shikama Kaidō was developed as a route connecting the port of Shikama to Himeji Castle. It later became part of the Old Silver Mine Carriage Road, an industrial route that linked the once-prominent Ikuno Silver Mine to the port at Shikama—and its legacy still remains today.
• This 3-hour cycling tour takes you along these historic paths, guiding you toward the refreshing sea breeze at Himeji Port, while also visiting a former railway-turned-cycling trail and atmospheric sake breweries along the way.
