Departing from Sapporo, our first stop is the historic Noboribetsu Hell Valley, a crater formed by a volcanic eruption over 10,000 years ago. This 450-meter diameter landscape still emits plumes of white smoke, with a strong sulfurous aroma filling the air, creating the feeling of being in a mysterious underworld. In winter, Hell Valley is covered in pristine snow, creating a unique scene where geothermal heat intertwines with the icy landscape. Next, we head to the Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch. This "new mountain" was formed by a volcanic eruption and continues to grow, its reddish-brown slopes emitting smoke from time to time, creating an impressive sight.
