- You will explore Monzennakacho, a small neighborhood in the eastern part of Tokyo. Manami was born and grew up. She is a historian and also obtained a Ph.D. in cultural heritage protection.
- We are always a small group. You will meet a real local who has expert insight into Japanese spirituality and understands the area's backstory. Manami explains what's going on at the Buddhist fire ritual and what all the unique Shinto symbols mean.
- 1. Manami tells you about unique the geographical features and history. She explains why two religions, Buddhism and Shinto, coexist in Japan, and what they mean to Japanese people.
- 2. Buddhist temple: Manami shares basic etiquettes and photo/video rules. You will witness a spectacular ritual with fire and huge drums. Just relax and follow Manami’s instructions.
- 3. Shinto shrine: You will see "Sumo rocks” related to Shinto. Tell Manami If you are interested in the "omikuji" fortune teller or "goshuin" stamp.
