- “Breathing new life into broken pottery”
- Very little known, Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese art of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold. You will learn how to create new works of art from broken pottery. Kintsugi means litteraly “Golden Joinery” (金継ぎ). You will be repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The method is similar to the maki-e crafting technique.
