Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine enshrines the well-known god of learning, Sugawara no Michizane. It is the headquarters of approximately 12,000 Tenmangu shrines in Japan and the largest shrine in Kyushu, attracting many tourists from home and abroad.
According to legend, Nyorima Temple was built by the Japanese monk Gyoki during the Nara period. It enshrines Nyorima Kannon, who prays for blessings and wishes to come true. It is also a designated cultural property of Fukuoka Prefecture.
