Yanesen is the area around Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi in the Bunkyo to Taito wards. Close to Ueno Park and Tokyo University of the Arts, the area was built around major shrines. These shrines are the reason why the area still retains its traditional feel. The great writer Natsume Soseki lived here and Banana Yoshimoto was born here, so a walk around Yanaka and Nezu might just inspire you.
