The Ryukyu Sea Flame Festival will be held for the 22nd time in 2025 under the theme of "The earliest moving summer in Japan". It is Okinawa's largest entertainment, full of originality by fusing fireworks, a seasonal feature of the Japanese summer, with Okinawan music and culture, and boasts one of the largest firework illusions in Japan. The festival aims to promote Okinawa's original charm in a new way, not just as an ocean resort, and to improve Okinawa's status and attract tourists, promoting "Japan's earliest summer" to both inside and outside the prefecture. It is held every April in line with Okinawa's beach opening season as a festival that can be enjoyed by tourists from outside the prefecture and Okinawans alike.
