- From JR Yanai Port Station, it's about a 20-minute walk with the train tracks to your left. Along the way, you'll find the cafe "Hokkori Vegi House," where you can enjoy homemade cakes on Sundays (no reservation required) and lunch made with homemade vegetables on Wednesdays (reservations required). You can also buy homemade vegetables (they may be sold out).
- Just a few minutes' walk from "Hokkori Veggie House" is Yanai City's popular confectionery shop, "Espalier Kagetsu." In addition to purchasing souvenirs, you can also enjoy a cake set in the eat-in space at the back. (No closing days. 9:00-19:30)
- Your guide will provide detailed instructions on how to make the incense.
- On cold or hot days, to ensure a comfortable experience, the experience will take place outside of the Seikyo Sodo, but in a facility equipped with air conditioning and heating.
- What to expect
-
The Heian period custom of burning incense has been revived in a modern form. You can experience Bunko, a small scented sachet used as a "bookmark" to send the scent along with a letter, at Seikyo Sodo, a private school run by the monk Gessho, who was the mentor of Yoshida Shoin, the origin of the Meiji Restoration.
