[Kumamoto] Kumamoto Castle Half-day Guided & Cultural Tour

Our story begins with Kato Kiyomasa, the man who built Kumamoto Castle. Not only did he build the fortress, but he also transformed the geography, designed the town, and gave us the name 'Kumamoto.' As we admire the fortifications on our walk through the castle, we will pull back the curtain on how Kumamoto Castle came to be. What’s more, the Special Observation Path has the perfect angle to show how conscripts successfully defended the castle from a samurai army. However, by unraveling the stories of the time before the castle, Japan's last civil war, and the crowd-funded reconstruction of the castle keep, we will not only show you the evolution of the castle, but also how the city holds onto hope as we restore the castle bit by bit, returning every fallen stone to its rightful place.
