Mount Aso, located in the northeast of Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, is a famous active volcano in Japan. It has a caldera that is rare in the world. It is also one of the few scenic spots where you can see active volcanoes up close.
Aso Mountain Kusasenri is a large grassland located at the northern foot of Mount Eboshi. In the center of the grassland is a pond formed by rainwater, and there are cattle and horses grazing on the grassland. Various different scenery can be seen throughout the year.
Kumamoto Castle is not only one of the top 100 famous castles in Japan, but also one of the three most famous castles in Japan. It is also known as Ginkgo Castle. It was severely damaged in the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. The castle tower was finally restored in the spring of 2021. Kumamoto Castle, which has been built for more than 400 years, stands on a slightly higher hill in the center of Kumamoto City. It is worth a visit.
