Magome and Tsumago are post towns on the Nakasendo, a highway connecting Kyoto and Edo, and they still retain much of their Edo-period charm. The approximately 9-kilometer highway connecting these two post towns is remarkably well-preserved, and you can enjoy hiking amidst the simple natural beauty of the area, including cobblestone paths that once traversed by samurai, mountain teahouses, and charming rural landscapes.
