The Senjojiki Ice Valley in the Central Alps boasts many rare and unspoiled natural landscapes, including Mount Mokutsuko, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and one of Japan's 100 Flower Mountains. Its unique topography was formed during the Ice Age approximately 20,000 years ago. The area is also designated a Quasi-National Park, offering a variety of seasonal experiences year-round.
The Central Alps Komagatake Ropeway is a mountain cable car that reaches the Senjojiki Ice Valley below Mount Hotoku. From its starting point, Shiradaira Station (1,662 meters), to its final destination, Senjojiki Station (2,612 meters), the cable car boasts a 950-meter elevation gain, the highest in Japan. Senjojiki Station is also the highest station in Japan.
