Overview
You will take a sightseeing bus from the Takayama Nohi Bus Center to the two Gassho-zukuri villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama Aikura, both World Heritage Sites.

Gokayama Aikura Gassho-zukuri Village is a World Heritage Site located in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, and is famous for its well-preserved traditional Gassho-zukuri houses.

Gassho-zukuri houses are an architectural style designed to withstand heavy snowfall. Their steep, thatched roofs resemble hands clasped in prayer. Most of the existing houses were built between 100 and 350 years ago. The Aikawa village still has approximately 20 to 23 inhabited Gassho-zukuri houses, making it one of the few continuously inhabited living World Heritage sites in the world.
