What to expect

The terrain of Magome-juku is steep. Historically, because the roads were difficult to pass, travelers had to leave their horses at the inn, hence the name "Magome-juku". The history of Magome-juku can be traced back to the Edo period, and most of the buildings at that time maintained their original appearance from the Edo period. The small town of Tsumagojuku is located on the ancient Nakasendo trade route and borders Gifu Prefecture through the Kiso Valley. It is still one of the most primitive villages in Japan. Visit the beautiful Kiso Valley and experience the style of Japan's feudal period.
