The Katagai Festival boasts a 400-year tradition, is famous as the birthplace of the Sanjakudama (three-shaku shell) fireworks, and is a festival where the entire town is filled with fireworks, including the launch of the world's largest Yonshakudama (four-shaku shell). Held as the autumn annual festival of Asahara Shrine, the main event is the "Honou Daienkai" (Dedication Grand Fireworks), offered by local residents with gratitude and wishes.
