Overview
Set in the sacred grounds of Kōfuku-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nara, this spiritual premium journey offers an authentic mindfulness (meditation) experience guided by a Buddhist monk. Inside the privately reserved Tōkondō Hall, a National Treasure, participants sit in meditation before sacred statues, including the principal image of Yakushi Nyorai (Medicine Buddha), Monju Bosatsu (Manjushri), and Vimalakīrti.
At the climax of the journey, you will engage in deep mindfulness while facing the world-renowned statue of Asura, considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Japanese Buddhist sculpture.

The journey is led by Alex Kerr, a renowned expert in Japanese traditional culture and Eastern philosophy, who will serve as your special guide.

What to expect

This is an exclusive premium inbound tour for a small group of participants, held at the National Treasure Hall of Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara, where you will engage in mindfulness with monks while facing the “Ashura Statue,” considered the most beautiful Buddhist statue in Japan. ※Alex Kerr will accompany the tour departing on Saturday, 13 October for two days, but will only accompany the tour departing on Sunday, 12 October until the dinner on the first day.
